    About the Course

CCH Practical Skills is a course designed to aid students in the proper and safe carrying, drawing, presentation, and reholstering of the firearm from concealment. During this course, students will spend some time in the classroom covering any recent changes or updates to state laws as it pertains to concealed carry, including a review of the Castle Doctrine. A portion of classroom time will be spent introducing the skill of safely and properly retrieving a firearm from concealment. Students will spend time learning and practicing several dry-fire drills to get comfortable with pulling/presenting the firearm from concealment.

Once on the range, students will practice drawing their firearm from a concealed position (drawing from a holster), acquiring their target, engaging the target at varying distances, and reholstering the firearm (loaded) in a safe manner. Throughout the course, drills will become increasingly more difficult to simulate real-life, life-threatening situations. While speed and accuracy will be reinforced, the main focus will be safely drawing and reholstering.

Note: This course is focused on drawing from a holster that is secured to a person (IWB or OWB). Drawing from a bag or purse will not be covered in this course, but discussion and examples may be provided as necessary or as deemed appropriate.

Since CCH is a course that prepares shooters for carrying a firearm concealed, students will be required to bring their own firearm (and other necessary gear). It is imperative that students learn with the firearm that they plan to use as their Everyday Carry (EDC), in order to become proficient. In order to get the most out of this course, please ensure that you have all materials needed prior to the start of the course.

    Required Course Materials

    1 Handgun

    200 Rounds of Ammunition (Minimum)

Undershirt/Garment that can be tucked in

    Ear Protection (Earmuffs preferred)

    About the Course

Intermediate Handgun prepares shooters to transition from Basic Handgun to the Defensive Pistol Series. This course will focus on the repetition of fundamentals, all of which, students have previously been introduced to, but may not have completely mastered. The primary goal of Intermediate Handgun is to elevate the shooter's confidence by increasing their knowledge and experience, challenging their skills, and beginning to transform into a defensive mindset while still in a safe and controlled environment.

Intermediate Handgun is a 4-hour class with the first hour being in the classroom. Class time allows a refresh of safety procedures, terminology, and illustrations of the shooting and marksmanship fundamentals. After class time, students will spend an average of three hours on the range conducting live-fire drills.

Shooters can expect to fire between 150 to 200 rounds throughout the increasingly challenging drills. The drills are designed to bring a focus to the details of shooting where accuracy should not be sacrificed for speed. Drills will increase in difficulty as the class progresses and will begin to introduce a defensive mindset, as well as, shooting in defensive situations. ** It should be noted that some drills are designed to induce stress while shooting.

This course will set the foundation for more advanced training by reinforcing firearm safety, causes of malfunctions and their remedies, including an immediate action drill (for clearing malfunctions), plus so much more. Upon completion of this course, students will be prepared for defensive-style pistol shooting and are encouraged to seek additional advanced training.

Students are encouraged to bring their own firearm, however, one can be provided if necessary.
